Across United States, you're in good hands. Off to United States? You're in good hands.

Four things we'll tell you before you pay, not after.

Networks vary by destination and are listed on each plan. All trade marks are the property of their respective owners. Halo is not affiliated with these operators.

Staying connected in United States

A United States itinerary can mean a few days in one city or a long drive between several stops. Choose your plan around your time away and how you use your phone, especially video, uploads and sharing a connection with another device. Before a road trip, save accommodation details, entry reservations and essential directions locally. Download maps where your map service supports offline use; offline features vary, so check what is available before setting off. Do not depend on a mobile connection for every part of a national park visit or a remote drive. The networks and speed policy shown for your selected plan help you compare options, but they do not guarantee reception at every stop. If your route includes Canada or Mexico, check a regional plan’s country list rather than assuming a United States plan covers the whole journey.

How much data you'll need

Start with your phone’s recent mobile-data usage, then adjust for your trip length and plans for video calls, streaming, uploads or hotspot use. Save large downloads for Wi-Fi when available. Fixed data is one allowance for the whole plan; for daily unlimited, check the daily full-speed allowance and what happens after it is used.

5G

Check the networks and speed policy for your selected United States plan. A 5G connection also depends on your phone and local coverage; it is not guaranteed at every stop.

Which plan type suits my trip?

Fixed data

One allowance. Top up as you go.

One allowance for the whole plan. Top up while your plan is running.

Daily unlimited

A fresh allowance each day.

A daily allowance at full speed, then reduced speed. Choose your days up front; this plan cannot be topped up.

What else should I know?

Select a plan below to check its networks and speed policy in Plan details. Hotspot availability depends on the plan and the local network.

How do I set up my eSIM?
  1. Check your phone.

It needs to be eSIM-compatible and network-unlocked.

  2. Install before you fly.

Install on Wi-Fi before you leave. Follow the instructions in your delivery email. See the iPhone or Android setup guide.

  3. Connect when you arrive.

Select your Halo eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that eSIM. Your plan starts on its first connection at the destination.

Keep data roaming off on your home SIM to avoid using its roaming data. Need a hand? Chat with Hal.

Questions? We've got answers.

  • Can I rely on mobile data in US national parks?

Do not rely on uninterrupted reception for a park visit. Save reservations and essential directions before you go, and prepare offline maps where supported. Coverage depends on the location and the network available to your selected plan.

  • What if my US trip also includes Canada or Mexico?

Check the included countries before buying. A regional plan may suit a cross-border itinerary, but its country list must include every stop; a United States plan alone should not be assumed to do so.

  • Can I call and send SMS on my United States eSIM?

Halo eSIMs are exclusively data-only eSIMs. While you can engage in voice calls and messaging through WhatsApp, Facetime, and other widely used VOIP apps, traditional phone calls and SMS are not supported.

  • Is my device compatible with this United States eSIM?

Most phones from 2018 onwards support eSIM, including iPhone XR and XS and newer, Pixel 3 and newer, Galaxy S20 and newer. If it's a reasonably recent phone, you're probably fine. Check our device compatibility page if you want to be sure.

  • When should I set up my United States eSIM?

Before you leave, while you're still on Wi-Fi. Your plan only starts counting when you first connect to a network at your destination, so there's no cost to installing early. United States plans run from 1 to 30 days from that first connection. One less thing to sort at the airport.

  • Which networks does my United States eSIM use?

Each plan lists its own networks and speed policy under Plan details on this page. Which networks a plan uses is set by our network partners and can change without notice, so we show them per plan rather than for the destination as a whole. Your device finds and connects to a supported network on its own when you arrive.

  • Can I top up my United States eSIM?

Yes, on the fixed-data plans. Running low? Purchase another plan for the same destination from your order page. The new data gets added to your existing eSIM. No reinstall needed. Top-ups are not available on the Unlimited (daily) plans. To keep using data after an Unlimited plan ends, buy a new plan.

  • Can I hotspot with my United States eSIM?

Hotspot availability depends on the plan. Halo adds no separate hotspot cap and does not meter hotspot data differently, so on plans that support it you can share your connection with a laptop, tablet or travel companion where the local network allows. Hotspot is provided by the network operator in United States rather than by Halo, so it is not something we can guarantee on every plan.
