Across Mexico, you're in good hands. Off to Mexico? You're in good hands.

Four things we'll tell you before you pay, not after.

Networks vary by destination and are listed on each plan. All trade marks are the property of their respective owners. Halo is not affiliated with these operators.

Staying connected in Mexico

For a Mexico trip, start with the journey you have planned rather than a guess at how much data everyone else uses. A city break with hotel Wi-Fi and a road trip with regular uploads can need very different allowances. Save your airport transfer information, accommodation address and booking confirmations before leaving home. If you are driving, prepare maps for offline use where your map service supports it, and keep essential directions accessible without a connection. Your Halo plan provides mobile data, not a local phone number or traditional calls and texts. Check the selected plan’s networks and speed policy above before buying. If your itinerary also takes you into the United States or another country, check that destination separately or compare a regional plan’s included countries. A Mexico plan should not be assumed to cover the next border crossing.

How much data you'll need

Start with your phone’s recent mobile-data usage, then adjust for your trip length and plans for video calls, streaming, uploads or hotspot use. Save large downloads for Wi-Fi when available. Fixed data is one allowance for the whole plan; for daily unlimited, check the daily full-speed allowance and what happens after it is used.

5G

Check the networks and speed policy for your selected Mexico plan. A 5G connection also depends on your phone and local coverage; it is not guaranteed at every stop.

How do I set up my eSIM?
  1. Check your phone.

It needs to be eSIM-compatible and network-unlocked.

  2. Install before you fly.

Install on Wi-Fi before you leave. Follow the instructions in your delivery email. See the iPhone or Android setup guide.

  3. Connect when you arrive.

Select your Halo eSIM for mobile data and turn on data roaming for that eSIM. Your plan starts on its first connection at the destination.

Keep data roaming off on your home SIM to avoid using its roaming data. Need a hand? Chat with Hal.

Questions? We've got answers.

  • Does a Mexico eSIM include a local phone number?

No. Halo travel plans are data-only. You can use internet-based messaging and calling services over your data connection, but traditional calls and SMS are not included.

  • Can I use my Mexico plan after crossing into the United States?

Do not assume cross-border coverage. Check the included countries for the plan you choose. For a multi-country route, compare regional options and confirm that every stop is included.

  • Can I call and send SMS on my Mexico eSIM?

Halo eSIMs are exclusively data-only eSIMs. While you can engage in voice calls and messaging through WhatsApp, Facetime, and other widely used VOIP apps, traditional phone calls and SMS are not supported.

  • Is my device compatible with this Mexico eSIM?

Most phones from 2018 onwards support eSIM, including iPhone XR and XS and newer, Pixel 3 and newer, Galaxy S20 and newer. If it's a reasonably recent phone, you're probably fine. Check our device compatibility page if you want to be sure.

  • When should I set up my Mexico eSIM?

Before you leave, while you're still on Wi-Fi. Your plan only starts counting when you first connect to a network at your destination, so there's no cost to installing early. Mexico plans run from 7 to 30 days from that first connection. One less thing to sort at the airport.

  • Which networks does my Mexico eSIM use?

Each plan lists its own networks and speed policy under Plan details on this page. Which networks a plan uses is set by our network partners and can change without notice, so we show them per plan rather than for the destination as a whole. Your device finds and connects to a supported network on its own when you arrive.

  • Can I top up my Mexico eSIM?

Yes. Running low? Purchase another plan for the same destination from your order page. The new data gets added to your existing eSIM. No reinstall needed.

  • Can I hotspot with my Mexico eSIM?

Hotspot availability depends on the plan. Halo adds no separate hotspot cap and does not meter hotspot data differently, so on plans that support it you can share your connection with a laptop, tablet or travel companion where the local network allows. Hotspot is provided by the network operator in Mexico rather than by Halo, so it is not something we can guarantee on every plan.
