Need broader coverage?

Regional and Global eSIMs cover Switzerland and plenty more.

Your eSIM arrives within minutes, starts when you first connect in Switzerland, and tops up whenever you need more.

Across Switzerland, you're in good hands. Off to Switzerland? You're in good hands.

Four things we'll tell you before you pay, not after.

Networks vary by destination and are listed on each plan. All trade marks are the property of their respective owners. Halo is not affiliated with these operators.

Staying connected in Switzerland

Switzerland is well covered for a mountainous country, with signal along the valleys, the rail network and the main passes. The cities and larger towns are dense. What you lose is high ground away from infrastructure: the upper slopes, the hiking paths above the tree line and the deeper side valleys frequently have nothing. A Halo eSIM installs before you fly and starts counting on its first connection after you arrive. Swiss rail is a genuine strength here, with coverage along most routes including the scenic lines, though the long base tunnels through the Gotthard and Lotschberg drop the signal for several minutes. If your trip crosses into France, Italy, Germany or Austria, check whether a regional Europe plan covers Switzerland, because it is not always included in European bundles.

How much data you'll need

Three to five GB for a week. Switzerland is compact, the trains do the navigating and Wi-Fi is reliable in hotels and stations. Add a little if you are driving the passes or using maps for hiking, where you will download route data in advance.

5G

Our Switzerland plans run on networks carrying 5G, available across the cities and the main valley corridors.

Questions? We've got answers.

  • Is Switzerland included in European regional plans?

Not always. Switzerland is outside the European Union and some regional bundles exclude it, so check the covered-country list on any Europe plan before buying rather than assuming. A Switzerland plan is the certain option if the trip is Switzerland alone.

  • Will I have signal while hiking?

In the valleys and around the lift stations and mountain huts, usually. On the higher paths, the passes and the side valleys away from infrastructure, often not. Download your route offline before setting out and do not rely on live navigation above the tree line.

  • Can I call and send SMS on my Switzerland eSIM?

Halo eSIMs are exclusively data-only eSIMs. While you can engage in voice calls and messaging through WhatsApp, Facetime, and other widely used VOIP apps, traditional phone calls and SMS are not supported.

  • Is my device compatible with this Switzerland eSIM?

Most phones from 2018 onwards support eSIM, including iPhone XR and XS and newer, Pixel 3 and newer, Galaxy S20 and newer. If it's a reasonably recent phone, you're probably fine. Check our device compatibility page if you want to be sure.

  • When should I set up my Switzerland eSIM?

Before you leave, while you're still on Wi-Fi. Your plan only starts counting when you first connect to a network at your destination, so there's no cost to installing early. Switzerland plans run from 1 to 45 days from that first connection. One less thing to sort at the airport.

  • Which networks does my Switzerland eSIM use?

Each plan lists its own networks and speed policy under Plan details on this page. Which networks a plan uses is set by our network partners and can change without notice, so we show them per plan rather than for the destination as a whole. Your device finds and connects to a supported network on its own when you arrive.

  • Can I top up my Switzerland eSIM?

Yes, on the fixed-data plans. Running low? Purchase another plan for the same destination from your order page. The new data gets added to your existing eSIM. No reinstall needed. Top-ups are not available on the Unlimited (daily) plans. To keep using data after an Unlimited plan ends, buy a new plan.

  • Can I hotspot with my Switzerland eSIM?

Hotspot availability depends on the plan. Halo adds no separate hotspot cap and does not meter hotspot data differently, so on plans that support it you can share your connection with a laptop, tablet or travel companion where the local network allows. Hotspot is provided by the network operator in Switzerland rather than by Halo, so it is not something we can guarantee on every plan.
