Activate your eSIM without scanning a QR code

If you cannot scan the QR code – for example, if you only have one device, the camera is not working, or you need an accessible alternative – you can install your Halo eSIM by entering the activation code manually.

Find your activation code

Your order confirmation email contains both a QR code and a text-based activation code. The activation code is a string starting with LPA:1$ followed by a server address and activation token.

Copy the full activation code from your email. You will paste it into your device settings.

Install on iPhone

1. Open Settings on your iPhone.
2. Tap Cellular (or Mobile Data in some regions).
3. Tap Add eSIM.
4. Tap Use QR Code.
5. At the bottom of the screen, tap Enter Details Manually.
6. In the SM-DP+ Address field, paste the server address portion of your activation code (the part between the first and second $ characters).
7. In the Activation Code field, paste the matching code portion.
8. Tap Next and wait for the profile to download.

Alternatively, if your iPhone runs iOS 17.4 or later: open the Camera app, point it at the QR code on a second screen, and tap the notification that appears.

Install on Samsung

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Connections.
3. Tap SIM manager.
4. Tap Add eSIM.
5. Tap Scan QR code from Service Provider.
6. Tap Enter Activation Code.
7. Paste the full activation code from your email.
8. Tap Connect and wait for the profile to download.

Install on Google Pixel

1. Open Settings.
2. Tap Network and internet.
3. Tap SIMs.
4. Tap Add SIM.
5. Tap Don’t have a SIM card?
6. Tap Enter it manually.
7. Paste the full activation code from your email.
8. Tap Next and wait for the profile to download.

Install on other Android devices

1. Open Settings.
2. Look for Connections, Network, or SIM manager (the label varies by manufacturer).
3. Select the option to add an eSIM.
4. Choose to enter the activation code manually instead of scanning.
5. Paste the full activation code from your email.
6. Confirm and wait for the profile to download.

If your device does not show a manual entry option, it may not support eSIM. Check the compatible devices guide.

After installation

Follow the same steps as a QR code installation to configure your data line:

1. Set the Halo eSIM as your mobile data line.
2. Keep your primary SIM as your default voice line.
3. Turn off Allow Mobile Data Switching (iPhone) to prevent roaming charges on your primary line.
4. Enable Data Roaming on the Halo eSIM line.
