Halo data plans give you mobile data in your destination country or region. Each plan has a data allowance and a validity period. Here is how they work.
Plan types
Country plans
A country plan covers a single country. Use this when you are travelling to one destination and want a dedicated data allowance for that country.
Regional plans
A regional plan covers multiple countries under one data allowance. Use this when you are visiting several countries in the same region, such as Europe or Southeast Asia. Your data allowance is shared across all covered countries.
See Countries and regions covered by Halo eSIM for the full list of countries in each region.
Unlimited (daily) plans
An Unlimited plan provides a set amount of full-speed data each day – currently 3 GB. After the daily amount is used, the connection continues at a slower speed for the rest of that day. You are never cut off, and the full-speed amount resets the next day.
Unlimited plans have a fixed number of days and cannot be topped up or extended. When the days run out, the plan ends. See What does Unlimited mean on a Halo plan? for full details.
Data allowance
Every fixed-data plan includes a set amount of data (e.g. 1 GB, 3 GB, 5 GB, 10 GB). Data is consumed as you browse, stream, and use apps. When the allowance is used up, the data connection stops. On Unlimited plans, data works differently – see Unlimited (daily) plans above.
Halo data plans provide data only. They do not include voice calls or SMS on the eSIM line. Your primary SIM continues to handle calls and texts as normal.
Validity period
Each plan has a validity period (e.g. 7 days, 15 days, 30 days). The countdown begins when your eSIM first connects to a network at your destination – not when you purchase or install the plan.
When the validity period ends, the plan expires. Any unused data remaining at expiry does not roll over or carry forward.
What happens when your plan runs out
Your plan ends when either condition is met first:
- Data used up: You have consumed the full data allowance. The connection stops immediately.
- Validity expired: The validity period has ended, regardless of remaining data.
In both cases, the eSIM stops providing a data connection. Your device may show reduced signal or “No Service” on the Halo line.
Getting more data
If you need more data during your trip, you can top up your data plan or purchase a new plan for your destination.
If your plan has expired, see If your Halo eSIM has expired for next steps.
Checking your usage
You can check how much data you have used in your device settings. See Check your remaining data for step-by-step instructions.
Install before you travel
Install your Halo eSIM while you have a stable internet connection, ideally the day before your trip. The plan does not start until you arrive and connect to a network, so there is no cost to installing early.
