If your Halo Unlimited plan has become noticeably slower, this is expected behaviour – not a fault. You have used the day’s full-speed data amount, and your connection is now running at a slower speed for the rest of today.
Your data has not been cut off. Everything still works – browsing, messaging, maps, and hotspot – at the reduced speed.
What is happening
Halo Unlimited plans provide a set amount of full-speed data each day – currently 3 GB. Once you use that amount in a single day, Halo reduces the speed for the remainder of that day. This is part of Halo’s fair use policy.
When does full speed come back?
Full speed returns automatically at the next daily reset. You do not need to do anything. When the new day begins, your full-speed data amount is restored and your connection returns to normal speeds.
How to confirm this is the cause
- Check your device’s data usage for the Halo eSIM line. See Check your remaining data for instructions.
- If the usage for today is close to or exceeds the daily full-speed amount shown in your plan details, the speed reduction is expected.
- Wait for the daily reset. If speeds return to normal, the fair use threshold was the cause.
Tips for managing your daily amount
- Save data-heavy activities like video streaming and large downloads for Wi-Fi when available.
- Disable automatic app updates and cloud sync on your Halo data line.
- If you are sharing your connection via hotspot, connected devices (especially laptops) consume data faster. See Can I share my data with other devices? for tips on reducing hotspot usage.
If your data is not working at all
A slower connection is normal on Unlimited plans after the daily amount is used. If your data has stopped entirely – pages do not load at all, even slowly – that is a different issue. See My data is not working for troubleshooting steps.
