The United States has extensive mobile network coverage in urban and suburban areas. Halo eSIM connects to US carrier networks across the country.
Coverage
Coverage is strong across major cities, highways, airports, and suburban areas. New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Miami, Las Vegas, and all major metro areas have reliable connectivity.
Rural areas, national parks, and remote stretches of highway may have limited or no coverage. The western states (Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Utah) have larger gaps between coverage areas than the eastern seaboard.
Networks
Halo data plans in the USA run on the major US mobile networks. Your device finds and connects to a supported network on its own when you land, and reconnects as you move between cities and states, so there is nothing to select or configure.
The operator name shown in your status bar may be one you do not recognise, and it may change during your trip. That is normal. Which networks a plan uses is set by our network partners and can change without notice, so each plan lists its own networks and speed policy under Plan details on the USA destination page.
Tips for the USA
Install before you fly, and it’s ready to use when you land. Download your Halo eSIM profile while connected to Wi-Fi before departure.
Airport connectivity. All major US airports (JFK, LAX, SFO, ORD, MIA, ATL) have strong network coverage. Your eSIM should connect shortly after landing.
National parks. Many national parks (Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Yosemite, Zion) have limited or no mobile coverage. Download offline maps and essential information before entering park areas.
Road trips. Interstate highways generally have coverage, but gaps exist on remote stretches in the western states. Download offline navigation maps before driving through rural areas.
Hawaii and Alaska. Major cities and tourist areas in Hawaii and Alaska have coverage. Remote areas in both states may have limited connectivity.
Destination-specific notes
- The USA uses Band 2 (1900 MHz), Band 4 (1700/2100 MHz), Band 12 (700 MHz), Band 66, and Band 71 for 4G LTE. Most modern smartphones sold internationally support these bands.
- The USA does not restrict VPN usage.
- If you plan to use ride-hailing services (Uber, Lyft), navigation (Google Maps, Apple Maps), or restaurant booking apps, these all work over mobile data.
